Product Engineer (RSSL-004)

At our R&D site in Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge we currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Product Engineer to work on exciting projects and in return you will have a rewarding career.

About the Job:

The role of Product Engineer is to work at the interface of tissue engineering, micro-fabrication and MEMS and collaborate with cell production team for ‘organ on a chip’ product development. The role is initially for one year to work on ‘Liver on a chip’ project for in vitro drug testing. This project aims to exploit the innovative way to locally manipulate physical attributes of materials to facilitate micro-physiological studies.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Design and test novel microfluidic devices and integrate with fluid input and output channels.
  • Undertake scientific research in the development of these devices by designing, building and performing experiments under general supervision.
  • Act as single point of contact to collaborate with external partners in design and integration.
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Make independent decisions on routine issues and recommend scientific solutions to specific problems whilst collaborating with the project partners.

Education / Qualifications:

  • A Masters or PhD degree in mechanical engineering or electronic engineering or chemical engineering.
  • Experience in experimental design and device construction/design.
  • Experience with CAD drawing packages.
  • Knowledge of microfluidic techniques and technologies
  • Experience in Computer programming and modelling of fluid dynamics.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
